Our mission is to help Automotive repair services to overcome new barriers and Boost their Business with our Added Value Solutions
We help enterprises co-operate in order to propose measures aiming to serve the public interest, especially freedom of enterprise, freedom of consumers' choice and improvement of quality of services and repairing activities through direct access to vehicle generated data and technical repair and maintenance informations (RMI).
Association activities can be used to bring improvements or added value to the growth and competitiveness of SMEs, notably through the following actions:
exchanging legal and technical informations
providing assistance such as advices, setting-up pilot projects about new technologies
offering expertise and preparing reports and position papers
About Easra
We believe in SMEs success and that big data as well as RMI inputs can help them achieve the best results for boosting their business, if they co-operate and take the steps to reverse the trend influenced by dominant undertakings using new barriers to foreclose their competitors
Our founding members - Soon in 1994, the then Chairman of French Fédération Nationale de l'Automobile (FNA), Mr René Rigaud, whose decision was agreed by FNA SME members, proposed to promote co-operation between associations and enterprises around Europe. Seeking to make their access to kowledge easier, he set on a mission to get the world of vehicle technical informations and data available to every SME and to contribute to maximize their profit by the added value services provided
Our story - Mr René Rigaud was initially just one vehicle repairer with a desire to make his team understand and have better access to technical information and generated data, and help clients make more informed choices. Quickly, what was meant to be a project grew into a European association and exchanges with enterprises.
Now, EASRA experts, by using the experience they have gained, are providing added value services and working together with public and private contacts who appreciate their responsiveness and service sense.

Key questions
We have specialist experience in a handful of key questions
Which key areas ?
Warranty coverage as a new barrier to foreclose repairers: obstruing consumers' freedom to have their vehicle maintained, repaired using third-party replacement parts and choosing independent repair shops
Fair access to vehicle technical infos, data, functions, resources and safety features: vehicle manufacturers as "system administrators" arbiter rights and roles in the repair process. They are becoming "access controllers" and raising a major competition problem as they are able to distort the ability of local independent repairers to compete with those of manufacturers' network and creating a new barrier to foreclose competitors
By helping them to overcome new barriers against free competition, we are maintaining SMEs in charge of towing and road side assistance, of end-of-life vehicle (ELV) treatment, of technical vehicle inspection and of driving licence
Running the risk of lack of supply in ELV treatment and in technical vehicle inspection can have dramatic consequences for the environment. Small enterprises of driving vehicles are also vital services to improving driving skills and safety on roads. Likewise, towing and road assistance SMEs are of public interest for motorists, road safety and the environment.

When heading the European Commission's Office in France, in 2018 Mrs Isabelle Jegouzo (at the left of the photo) met FNA delegates and commented the Easra Position Paper on interoperability for in-vehicle data access. She shared and supported their views and sent these arguments to be taken up by European Commission officials in Brussels. Now, she is in charge of European Affairs in French Justice Ministry. Mrs Isabelle Coustet, (at the center of the photo) heading the European Parliament Office in France, also commented the European Parliament Position in favour of access to automotive technical informations.
